Welcome to Jurassic Park! We are glad to have you on island of Nublar! Throughout this book you will be reading about paleontologists and legal representatives who are arguing over whether building this park was a smart or dumb decision made by Mr. Hammond. Mr. Hammond’s grand kids come to spend the weekend with him at the park since the park hasn't officially opened to the public yet. Let's just say all the things Mr. Hammond had planned to do with his grand kids don't go according to plan. While everyone is in the middle of taking a guided tour the power goes out which in this case isn't good. While things are going wrong and drama occurs inside the control center things outside in the park aren't looking too good. As the fences which keep the dinosaurs inside their paddocks are electric well they don't work anymore. Of course to top it all off a thunderstorm starts to happen which doesn't make this easier to solve the problem. As everyone on the island is separated in from or another they learn that velociraptors and big T-Rex are on the loose and hungry which makes this a hide and seek game more of a survive or die game . As everyone, well mostly everyone... struggles back to the control center we learn our main character Alan Grant learns to like kids and appreciates them for who they are. Also Mr. Hammond comes to his senses, that maybe if they do open this park to the public, to advance safety measures and treat these animals with respect since dinosaurs weren't created to live with humans. There are many themes to this book one of them includes man and the natural world. On page 41 in the book is when Dr. Sattler and Dr. Grant meet the big giants for the first time and are amazed by the sight of the Dino's. Realizing that humans are just a small part of this world and there so many other things that make up this world not just humans and we shouldn't make seem like we are more important than everything else in this world. Also in the book Ian Malcolm makes a statement saying “ They were so busy thinking if they could do it, they never stopped to think if they should.” Explaining this quote by saying Ian Malcolm is trying to tell the people who are for this park that these animals and a lot of other wild animals weren't meant to be interacting with humans having human contact that’s not how these animals were designed. Finally, animals and humans can live peacefully together without turning them into humans per say by making them live with us and do what we tell them to do. They are called “wild” animals for a reason.
